ft. ‘Love Alarm’ & Lucky Charm Shots
In the wise words of the prolific Rebecca Black, “It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday.” We officially survived the year anniversary of the pandemic. I hope you all celebrated by panic ordering some paint sets on Amazon and baking banana bread. As for this week, Sunday is Pi Day for all my fellow nerds out there and Wednesday is St. Patty’s Day, aka the day your roommate/significant other/pet gets mad at you for getting dye all over the kitchen while attempting to make green beer.
However you’re planning on spending your weekend, enjoy these quarantivities!

‘Love Alarm’ Season 2
Watch this if you’ve ever downloaded a dating app:
Sound the alarm — my favorite Korean drama is back tonight! Love Alarm revolves around a dating app that alerts you anytime you’re within a 10-meter radius of someone who ~likes~ you. How the app knows this is never quite clear — perhaps it works similarly to an Apple Watch and measures your heart rate, which honestly sounds like my personal nightmare. For example, my heart rate may quicken around say, a serial killer, or when I hear the Amazon delivery man outside my door, or when I’m checking out at Trader Joe’s and they compliment my taste in artisan cheese, so would my app go off in those circumstances? These are the burning questions that kept me up at night after watching the first season.
Anyway, the show’s protagonist is a high schooler named Kim Jo-jo (Jo-jo for short) who decides to download the app and then suddenly finds herself smack in the middle of a love triangle. Talk about problematic. On one end, we’ve got her childhood friend Mr. Next Door who follows her home at night because that’s not creepy at all, and on the other, we’ve got Resident Hottie Mr. Model who’s probably only interested in her because she’s not interested in him. Typical. Despite those minor character flaws in the love interest department, Love Alarm‘s drama is just addicting enough to suck you in, without ever giving you too much to think about. Ideal content for bingeing while pretending to organize your closet this weekend. Who will Jo-jo end up with? Mr. Next Door or Mr. Model?? The only way to find out is to watch it for yourself!
Stream it via Netflix.

‘Diana: Her True Story in Her Own Words‘ by Andrew Morton
Read this if you can’t get over Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview:
The striking similarities in Meghan and Diana’s stories are impossible to ignore. If you’re like me and, after listening to the jaw-dropping interview can’t get enough of the Royal tea, then Diana: Her True Story in Her Own Words is a must-read. It dives deep into Princess Diana’s story, explaining her problematic marriage to Prince Charles, dark struggles with depression, and more. The book was published five years before her death and sheds a terrifying light on the harrowing effects that the media had on this woman, as well as more insight into how Meghan is treated today. Take a break from trying to watch The Crown just so you can “get to Diana’s season already” and read this instead!
