ft. The Mandalorian & Homemade Cheesy Pizza Rolls

Happy Halloweekend! Even though the holiday looks a little different this year, we can still take advantage of all the scary movie marathons on TV and soon-to-be discounted bags of bulk candy. If you need me, I’ll be on my couch, eating my weight in pumpkin shaped Reese’s.

However you’re planning on spending your weekend, enjoy these quarantivities! And ICYMI, election day is four days away, so please, get out there (in your masks) and VOTE!

‘Mandalorian Season 2’

Watch this if you’re forcing your pet/child/significant other to dress up as Baby Yoda for Halloween:

Baby Yoda is back, baby! If there’s anything that stands a chance at salvaging 2020, it’s the fact that The Mandalorian has returned to Disney+ for its second installment. To avoid spoilers, I won’t give away too much, but let’s just say that if early reviews are of any indication, the second season of this fan-favorite seems to have everything we loved about the first, and then some. There’s plenty of bounty hunter action, detailed storytelling, and of course, niche Star Wars lore (including an exciting potential cameo!) for the most dedicated of fans.

If you’re somehow not familiar with what went down in the first season, basically all you need to know is that after discovering The Child, better known to the internet as Baby Yoda and potential relative of Jedi Master Yoda, on one of his bounty hunter missions, a warrior from a legendary race nicknamed Mando vowes to protect The Child and reunite it with more of its kind. Again, I really don’t want to ruin anything for fear of some of you coming at me with lightsabers in lieu of pitchforks. Plus, it’s pretty safe to say that by now, you’ll know if this is up your alley. Watch it you will…or don’t, but regardless, may the force be with you this weekend in all of your streaming endeavors.

‘Ted Lasso’

Watch this if you know what’s good for you:

S/O Ben for this amazing rec! Starring Jason Sudeikis, Ted Lasso is based on a character of the same name from a series of NBC commercials that ran to promote when the network acquired the rights to the English Premiere League. Yes, I know what you’re thinking. A series based on commercials? That HAS to be awful. Trust me, I initially thought the same. But as much as I wanted to hate this show, I have to admit — Ted Lasso may be one of the best new shows of 2020.

Similarly to the commercials, the show relies on a fish-out-water theme — Ted Lasso abandons his life coaching small-time football in Kentucky to manage the fictional AFC Richmond club in England, a mediocre team within the Premiere League. We soon learn that Lasso has zero experience coaching soccer (it takes but a day for him to be trending as #wanker on Twitter) and was hired as a revenge ploy by the new club owner, Rebecca, to tank the club to get back at her cheating husband. But just as I was won over by the “Lasso effect,” so too is everyone else.

In the real world, perhaps it’s unrealistic for an American football coach to overcome all odds and lead a Premiere League club to greatness, but that doesn’t matter. In the words of Ben, this show has no business being this good. It’s hilarious, moving and I am not ashamed to admit that I had to physically slam my computer last night to stop myself from watching the entire thing in one sitting, all the while frantically G-chatting Ben in sheer disbelief that it was so good. But don’t take my word for it, give it a go this weekend for yourself! Because it’s 2020, and the world could sure use a whole lot of a more Ted Lassos right now.
